Over time, a person\u2019s jaw line may deteriorate due to aging, cavities and missing teeth which then cause the jawbone to deteriorate around the root of the tooth. When deterioration occurs, the jaw line changes shape resulting in a prosthetic device that no longer fits. Gum disease can also cause the jaw to increase its size of the jaw due to swelling. And, of course, as with any tooth replacement it can become worn or damaged.
